Q: What made you decide to intern at Geenen & Kolean?
A: I chose to pursue an internship at GK because of the valuable workplace experience at a small firm. I had heard conversations from previous interns about the experience, and knew it was for me when I sat down and got to conversate in my interview. I also noticed that this environment was highly applicable to my future career and would greatly strengthen my skills learned in class.
Q: What did you hope to gain from your internship experience?
A: Going in I had 3 goals that I wanted to accomplish. I wanted to first learn about the spring busy season of tax, which I knew would be a healthy challenge. I also wanted to grow in workplace communication through email, conversation, and social aspects with my coworkers. My third goal was to get to know people and make connections in the workplace that could help to develop my professional skills.
Q: Did you enjoy your internship experience?
A: Overall, the internship has been positive in many aspects. I have been able to develop as a person in the workplace, becoming aware of my individual skillset; what I am strong at, enjoy, and hope to work toward in the future. I have greatly enjoyed getting to know and participate in a workplace that is supportive, fun, and trusting of me to be independent in my work.
Q: What do you like to do for fun?
A: In my free time I enjoy disc golfing, running, and spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. With family and friends, I like to watch sports and eat scrumptious foods.
