Last week, it was announced that 800,000 taxpayers who received health care coverage through HealthCare.gov were sent incorrect Form 1095-A statements. If you are not sure if your Form 1095-A was affected, check your HealthCare.gov account. You should see a message that informs you if your Form 1095-A was affected. If you were affected by this mistake, wait for a corrected Form 1095-A before filing your taxes. Corrected forms should be available in early March.
Several media outlets are reporting that the IRS will not require amended returns from taxpayers that have already filed their tax returns using the originally issued and incorrect Form 1095-A. However, we cannot confirm this through HealthCare.gov. Follow @GeenenKolean on twitter for up to date information about this topic.
